Richard biopic
Richard and Terri Grist

Richard Grist CEqD is a native of England but considers the U.S. home after living here for the last 25 years. He received his dental training originally in England at Hartpury College after being introduced to equine dentistry from his brother-in-law. Once he made the move to the states, he continued his education at the Academy of Equine Dentistry in Idaho and went on to start a private practice here in Florida in 2001. Richard finds the challenge of correcting complicated dental issues rewarding and enjoys teaching his clients about the equine mouth and the benefits of routine care.

Personally, Richard is married and has four step -children who he enjoys spending time with. His hobbies include driving at both racetrack and auto cross events as well as working on his cars. Richard also enjoys design and fabrication and has built his own succession of dental trailers and tools. He and Terri have a home in Dade City where the office is located. In the future, he hopes to add clinic space on their property to further grow Advanced Equine Dentistry’s local practice.

Our vets are happy to participate in the wellness care of your horses and they love teaching and mentoring!  For non- dental related emergencies after hours, we recommend the utilizing your personal veterinarian or we can give you contact information for local vets that service your area and are familiar with our practice and clients.
